Resumption Holds: FG Reassures Parents, Says All Federal Unity Colleges Open Monday, Sept 14

ABUJA — The Federal Government has cleared the air over the resumption of Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, confirming that all 115 unity schools will commence academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as originally scheduled.

The clarification came in a press statement issued on Friday by the Federal Ministry of Education, signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade. The statement was aimed at countering earlier reports and concerns that had circulated regarding possible school closures.

According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, comprehensive security arrangements and logistics have been put in place across all campuses to guarantee a seamless and secure return for students, teachers, and staff.

The Ministry confirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will open for the new academic session as planned on Monday. It said relevant security agencies have been fully briefed and instructed to maintain heightened vigilance around school premises and surrounding areas.

Principals and school administrators have also been directed to maintain close communication with local security agencies to safeguard learning environments throughout the session.

The Ministry urged parents, guardians, and students to disregard unverified rumours, remain calm, and proceed with their back-to-school preparations as planned.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that safeguarding students remains central to the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, reiterating that maintaining a safe environment for learning is a shared responsibility among government bodies, security agencies, and school communities.
